Crime reports for insurance

Learn about what is involved in obtaining information about property loss or damage that was reported to Victoria Police.

Victoria Police provides a service to individuals and organisations who want information about property loss or damage that:

  • occurred in Victoria and
  • was reported to Victoria Police.

If you suffer property damage or property loss, you can apply for a report detailing the damage or loss. You can also authorise a person to represent you and apply on your behalf.

Victoria Police applies strict guidelines to the release of information to individuals and organisations.

Crime reports

We only provide copies of crime reports that have already been registered with Victoria Police. If you need to report a non-urgent crime, please contact on 131 444 or visit Online reporting.

Subrogation notice

This form is used by insurance companies to notify Victoria Police of a transfer of ownership of stolen goods once an insurance claim has been settled.

Fees

The fees for crime reports and subrogation notices.

The Victoria Police (Fees and Charges) Regulations 2024 are now in effect. The Regulations set out fees and charges for services by police officers and Victoria Police employees. This follows public consultation via Engage Victoria.

The Victorian Government indexes certain fees and fines each year. Fees will increase from 1 July.
