Youth Employment Scheme (YES)

Entry level roles, qualifications and training for young Victorians at Victoria Police.

The Youth Employment Scheme (YES) is a State Government program. It offers a 12-month, entry-level paid opportunity to work in the Victorian Public Service for people aged 15 to 29.

This program is a great way to kick-start your Victorian Government career. You can complete your accredited training while working at Victoria Police.

Victoria Police participates in the scheme along with other Victorian Government departments. We provide paid work experience to help you:

  • develop your skills
  • gain qualifications
  • get ongoing employment.

Who the Youth Employment Scheme (YES) is for

Youth Employment Scheme (YES) gives priority to people who:

  • have left school without completing Year 12
  • are at risk of leaving school early
  • are from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • are at risk of homelessness
  • are young offenders
  • live with disability
  • live in social housing.

Youth Employment Scheme eligibility criteria

You are eligible to apply for the YES if you are:

  • aged between 15-29 years at the start of the traineeship
  • unemployed or not working more than 15 hours per week
  • not a current tertiary student
  • do not have a university-level qualification (excluding Certificate 1-3 courses).
