[Voiceover]: So here at Airwing, we've got three of the helicopters, AW139, as well as a fixed wing capability.

And we travel across the state. We do a lot of metro policing; we do a lot of stolen vehicles and search for missing people.

But we also have the capability to do rescue tasks, we do winches over land and water. And yeah, we service the entire state.

There's generally two roles.

You either work in the FCC, Flight Coordination Centre. From there you take all the phone calls, all the incoming jobs and it's up to you to decide what the priority is for the aircraft.

The other main task here is being on the aircraft. So, the three of us on the aircraft, a pilot and two Tactical Flight Officers and it's your job to respond to these jobs.

At the Air Wing we do a lot of interacting with different units.

We assist ground units and general duties a lot with searching for missing people on the ground, talking them into where offenders might be hiding.

And then we help the specialist units, well transport CIRT, SOG, K9, Bomb squad. We'll take them out to rural locations if need be.

Whether it be a rescue or chasing a car, I just love the variety. I love that you don't know what you're going to get any day.

And although we're in a special squad now, we're definitely part of the VicPol family and part of the team.
